New questions over selection of Ram Temple’s first CEO

Lucknow: Former IPS officer and National President of Azad Adhikar Sena, Amitabh Thakur, has raised fresh questions over the selection process for the post of CEO of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Thakur, who was himself an applicant for the post, has sought an explanation from the Trust regarding the selection of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra.

In a letter addressed to the Trust, Thakur referred to a recent public podcast statement by former IPS officer Rajesh Pandey. According to the statement cited by Thakur, Jitendra Mishra was allegedly not among the final 16 candidates shortlisted for the post and did not appear for the interview. Pandey also reportedly said that he had believed his own selection was almost certain, but that the decision was subsequently changed.

Questions Over Inclusion in Final Three

Thakur said that if the statements made by Rajesh Pandey are found to be correct, they raise serious questions not only about the final appointment but about the selection process itself.

He has specifically asked the Trust to clarify how and on what basis Jitendra Mishra's name was included among the final three candidates if he had not participated in the prescribed final stage of the selection process. He has also sought details of the recorded basis on which Mishra was ultimately selected for the CEO post.

Seeks Transparent Explanation

Thakur has demanded a clear and satisfactory explanation from the Trust and called for appropriate corrective action if any deviation from the prescribed selection procedure is established.

According to Thakur, the issue concerns the transparency and credibility of the selection process and therefore requires the Trust to place the relevant facts and decision-making record on the table.

Warns of Legal Action

Thakur has further stated that if the Trust fails to provide a satisfactory response or take necessary corrective action, he will pursue all available legal remedies.

He has indicated that these remedies may include challenging the selection process as well as the appointment of the CEO before an appropriate judicial or statutory forum.
